Residence Galaxy is envisioned as an inward-looking sanctuary where architecture strengthens family bonds while preserving privacy and individuality. Designed for two brothers and their families, the residence balances communal living with personal autonomy through a composition of three distinct triplex units connected to a shared central core. Each triplex functions as an independent home, while the central building accommodates collective activities such as dining, entertainment, leisure, and utility spaces, encouraging daily interaction among family members.

Elevated bridges connect the private residences to the shared nucleus, symbolizing the enduring relationship between the families. More than circulation elements, these bridges create physical and visual continuity, making architecture an active participant in family life. The design prioritizes inward spatial relationships rather than outward-facing façades. At its heart lies an internal courtyard that opens to a landscaped garden and swimming pool, creating a calm retreat from the surrounding environment. The pool acts as both a recreational and social space, drawing family members together across generations.

Visual connectivity is central to the design approach. Large glazed openings, open corridors, layered terraces, and carefully framed sightlines maintain a sense of closeness between residents while respecting personal space. The triplex arrangement provides vertical privacy across floors, while shared spaces encourage collective experiences and interaction. Inspired by the traditional Ondormohol concept, the residence functions as an introverted sanctuary where comfort, intimacy, and reflection are nurtured within protected boundaries.

The project is organized as a symmetrical composition along a central water spine that establishes the primary circulation axis and spatial hierarchy. This linear water element acts both symbolically and physically as a divider, creating balanced zones for the two brothers while maintaining harmony in proportion, access, and spatial organization. A secondary conceptual axis reinforces the idea of the residence as an introspective nucleus detached from the chaos of the outside world.

The architecture emphasizes a strong relationship between built form and nature. Transitional terraces mediate between interior and exterior spaces, promoting passive ventilation, visual porosity, and natural light penetration across multiple levels. Environmental considerations are integrated into the overall design strategy. Oriented along the north-south axis, the residence maximizes cross-ventilation, minimizes heat gain, and optimizes daylight throughout the year. Openings and voids are carefully positioned to ensure thermal comfort and spatial continuity.

Materials used:

Material expression is intentionally honest, minimal, and monolithic. Load-bearing concrete walls define the primary structural system, conveying permanence, solidity, and timelessness. The raw architectural language allows materials to age naturally and express their inherent character. Full-height clear glazed openings dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior while framing views and bringing daylight deep into the interiors.

Environmental/ Sustainability considerations:

A green-paved garden at the rear introduces softness and ecological balance to the concrete mass. The landscape contributes to storm water management, microclimatic cooling, and provides a contemplative outdoor setting that contrasts with the solidity of the architecture. Ultimately, Residence Galaxy becomes more than a home – it is a spatial manifesto of balance between family and individuality, openness and retreat, architecture and nature.

In essence, the residence is a spatial manifesto of balance – between two individuals, between nature and architecture, and between isolation and openness.
