Bangladesh’s architecture community marked a significant milestone with the official launch of the Delta Award for Architecture and the Delta Festival of Architecture 2026, a new platform dedicated to celebrating architectural excellence, sustainability, innovation, and socially responsive design. The inauguration ceremony took place at Sheraton Dhaka, bringing together leading architects, policymakers, industry professionals, academics, and representatives from national and international organizations.
Jointly initiated by ARCHICONNECT and CEMS-Global, the platform is being introduced under the umbrella of the 31st Build Bangladesh International Expo 2026, with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) serving as its strategic partner. The initiative aims to strengthen Bangladesh’s built environment by encouraging innovative design solutions while fostering collaboration between architects, industry leaders, and sustainability experts.
The Delta Award for Architecture will recognize outstanding achievements across multiple categories, including sustainable and resilient architecture, contextual and social impact, lifetime achievement, architect of the year, emerging architect of the year, and architectural scholarship. Through these recognitions, the organizers seek to highlight projects and professionals that are shaping the future of architecture in Bangladesh.
Speaking through the vision of the initiative, the organizers emphasized the importance of creating a collaborative platform where architecture intersects with technology, construction, material innovation, green finance, and environmental responsibility. The upcoming Delta Festival of Architecture is expected to serve as a meeting point for professionals, academics, developers, manufacturers, and policymakers to exchange ideas and explore the future of sustainable urban development.
Submissions for the awards are now open and will continue until August 16, 2026. Eligible projects from across Bangladesh can participate free of charge through the official submission platform. An international jury panel comprising distinguished architects and academics will evaluate the entries, while IFC will provide technical advisory support for the Sustainability and Resilience Award category.
The initiative will culminate in the Delta Festival of Architecture 2026, scheduled to take place from November 12–14 at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), Dhaka, alongside the 31st Build Bangladesh International Expo. The three-day festival will feature exhibitions of shortlisted projects, seminars, publication launches, masterclasses, product showcases, and networking opportunities designed to strengthen collaboration across the architecture, engineering, and construction sectors.
Selected projects will receive extensive exposure through curated exhibitions, professional publications, and media promotion, while award winners will be honored with trophies, certificates, cash prizes, and opportunities for both national and international recognition. As Bangladesh continues its transition toward a more sustainable built environment, the Delta Award for Architecture and the Delta Festival aspire to become a long-term platform that inspires innovation, recognizes excellence, and elevates the country’s architectural discourse.
